About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide integrated pest management in the prevention of pest infestation in and around County buildings and property. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Requirements

  • High School Graduation or GED equivalent
  • Two (2) years of pest management or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Requires a Category B-Pesticide License and a Phase P-Applicator Certification by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects buildings and other areas to ascertain pest control needs, the extent of damage to property and to develop treatment plans.
  • Applies chemical solutions, powders, and gases in rooms, onto clothing, furnishings, or wood, or in outdoor areas in order to eliminate and control pests.
  • Sets mechanical traps and applies other non-chemical pest control methods as needed.
  • Orders, maintains, utilizes, and maintains inventory records of pesticides in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Presents mosquito control educational and training programs to public school children.
  • Assists with providing cost estimates for repairs, installations, and maintenance.
  • Responds to work orders for repair of County buildings and facilities as needed.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
