About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in Classification & Pay. The mission of Classification & Pay in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the equitable and consistent classification of positions and administration of employee compensation. This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of professional People First Experience.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Handle daily classification actions, including establishing new positions, reclassifications, transfers, organizational changes, and supervisor updates.
  • Ensure all classification requests align with allocation factors, department staffing patterns, and Department of Management Services (DMS) rules and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough audits of position descriptions, organizational charts, and position data in People First to maintain accuracy and consistency.
  • Facilitate seamless organizational changes by managing add/deletes and ensuring proper documentation and compliance with departmental procedures.
  • Maintain and verify accurate records and supporting documentation to uphold the integrity of classification and staffing processes.

You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.
