About The Position

This is an anticipated vacancy for a Personnel Services Specialist/HR-SES within the Bureau Human Resources Management Classification Section. The role involves providing expertise to support optimal department operations by ensuring classification practices conform with sound organizational principles and consistency with rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of the State of Florida Classification/Broadband System
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of the current State Personnel Human Resource System
  • Extensive knowledge of organization structures
  • Proficient customer service and computer skills, including proficiency with web-based applications and report writing software
  • Ability to apply organization design principles to specific Department needs
  • Ability to conduct desk audits and prepare audit results
  • Ability to prepare and understand organization charts
  • Ability to present complex data and information in an understandable and compelling manner
  • Ability to work independently and be detail oriented
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Successful completion of a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Nice To Haves

  • At least five (5) years of verifiable related experience in classification/organizational management.
  • Post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyzes, prepares, and finalizes classification packages to include Position Description updates, Reclassifications and Organization Changes.
  • Investigates and analyzes problems and concerns relative to classification, pay, and position control.
  • Updates and maintains databases to keep accurate records of agency employees.
  • Researches rules and statutes as necessary for organization structure, FLSA position exemptions.
  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to central and field offices by responding to questions and providing interpretations of the state and agency rules and policy.
  • Makes recommendations of potential position classification to process managers, regional liaisons, and/or regional CareerSource staff.
  • Assists in special projects or critical situations as needed.
