This position is contingent upon a number of items including, but not limited to, security processing and position availability, which may lead to a lengthy hiring process. The role involves reviewing and analyzing requests for investigations concerning security clearances, reciprocity, requirements, violations, and assessments for on-board employees, contract/access applicants, and other personnel requiring security clearances or access to FBI facilities. It requires reviewing and analyzing FBI investigative files to extract identifying information, match records, and identify questionable elements that could affect an individual's reliability, trustworthiness, and loyalty. The specialist will examine material for misrepresentation of facts, criminal or immoral conduct, signs of mental illness, associations with hostile intelligence individuals/organizations, and any information suggesting a security risk. The role includes conducting Personnel Security Interviews (PSIs), preparing detailed analyses and recommendations, ensuring compliance with security policies and FBI regulations, and conducting security briefings (Security Awareness and Hostile Threat). Additionally, the specialist will assist in reviewing statements of personal history and data prior to background investigations, conduct background investigations (BIs) for positions requiring suitability determinations or classified access, and prepare reports on these investigations. This includes drafting summary sheets, detailed evaluations of adverse information, and recommended questions for follow-on investigations when information is insufficient. The role also involves assisting in making recommendations for adjudication of personal background investigations and security clearances. Specific work assignments include reviewing Personnel Security Questionnaires (SF-86 and SF-85P), verifying application information, contacting subjects for information, inputting data from MAC applications, retrieving data from credit bureaus, requesting Local Agency Checks, and reviewing reports for criminal records and traffic violations. The specialist will prioritize assignments, create schedules, use advanced interview skills, conduct peer reviews, support research and analysis on complex problems, serve as an expert on project teams, provide critical thinking and analysis for documentation and presentations, and apply extensive knowledge of security disciplines. All duties associated with level II must also be performed. This position is deemed mission critical by the customer.
