About The Position

Highly responsible professional, supervisory and administrative work in directing and coordinating a comprehensive human resource division for the largest city departments; and related work as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Permanent status with the City of New Orleans in a class of work having a pay grade equal to or higher than pay grade 77 and three (3) years of responsible professional experience at that level which must have included overseeing the functions of a department's personnel administration.
  • Five (5) years of responsible professional administrative experience in a human resources division.
  • This experience must have been at an exempt (salaried) level and must have included the drafting of personnel procedures, recruiting, and training.
  • At least one (1) year of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Professional experience is defined as experience gained in a position that required a Bachelor's degree upon entrance.
  • Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and certification claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification.
  • If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an active SHRM CP, SHRM SCP, PHR, SPHR, GPHR certification or equivalent may be substituted for the examination.
