Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age or older.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• May have a four-year degree in Exercise Science, PE, or other health-related fields with the expectation of achieving ACE/YMCA Strength and Conditioning or other National Accredited Certification within the first 30 days of employment.
• Must have valid certifications, including NSCA, ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM, NETA, and ISSA, or obtain ACE/YMCA Strength and Conditioning certification prior to training clients and be able to maintain certifications and other training requirements for the position as outlined.
• Must be able to work in a wellness-oriented atmosphere while maintaining structure and control.
• Ability to relate to, welcome and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
• Applicants who can support the need for a female personal trainer for female-identifying members are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Conducting personal training sessions and fostering relationships with YMCA members while walking them through a safe and effective wellness journey.
• Build effective, authentic relationships with members and establish appropriate goals with each participant.
• Prepare for each session and provide motivation and encouragement to participants.
• Make responsible judgments with regard to screening client participation prior to beginning exercise program and maintain knowledge of exercise equipment as well as current exercise trends.
