About The Position

Join the County of Elgin as a Temporary Part-Time Personal Support Worker at Elgin Manor! Elgin Manor is a 90-bed long-term care facility situated in the Township of Southwold, just a few minutes outside of St. Thomas, Ontario. Each home area is equipped with recreation rooms, sitting areas, and television lounges to enhance programming, socialization, and visits from family and friends. Elgin Manor also features multiple outdoor garden patio areas and walkways in a tranquil rural setting, right in the heart of beautiful Elgin County. As a certified Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in our residents’ daily lives. You’ll be joining a dedicated care team that works collaboratively to support dignity, safety, and overall well-being through established job routines.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Must be willing to further training/education of the Personal Support Worker field through in-services, etc.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety Procedures
  • Familiarity with Resident Bill of Rights
  • Familiarity with Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2001
  • Familiarity with Point Click Care
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the delivery of safe, efficient care to the personal needs of residents.
  • Successful completion of a police record check with vulnerable sector clearance.
  • Satisfactory Tuberculosis (TB) screening documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Proof of registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing personal care such as bathing, dressing, and transfers
  • Assisting with meals and nutrition support
  • Tidying resident rooms and common areas
  • Performing minor treatments and reporting health observations
  • Responding to call bells with attentiveness and empathy
  • Participating in care planning through daily reports
  • Supporting inclusive, respectful, and equitable care delivery
  • Additional duties as assigned
