About The Position

Maine Veterans' Homes is seeking compassionate and dependable Personal Support Specialist (PSS) to join their care team. As a PSS, you will play a vital role in helping residents live safely, comfortably, and with dignity. The position involves providing resident-centered care by assisting with activities of daily living while promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life. Working alongside nurses and other caregivers, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for the veterans entrusted to our care.

Requirements

• Current Personal Support Specialist (PSS) certification required
• Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused
• Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in English, is required.
• Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Support resident mobility, transfers, positioning, and ambulation
• Assist with meals, hydration, and feeding as needed
• Observe residents and report changes in condition to the nursing team
• Provide companionship, emotional support, and meaningful interactions
• Maintain accurate documentation
• Follow all safety, infection prevention, and resident care policies
• Work collaboratively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
