About The Position

The Personal Statement/College Counseling Instructor is responsible for guiding students through two components of our College Admissions Prep Camp Instruction: First, they will help each student complete 1-2 longer or several shorter personal statement responses so that are ready or nearly ready for submission with their college applications. The goal of the curriculum is to help each student through the process of brainstorming, writing, and revising a strong essay that is entirely the student's own work. The instructor will deliver group instruction on writing for college admissions and will give students one-on-one feedback on their writing. In addition, the instructor will lead a small group and one-on-one college counseling sessions with the students. They will walk them through the admissions process from A to Z helping them to create a detailed timeline/action plan based on their individual goals. As part of this process students will create a list of schools they wish to apply to that includes some safe schools, some reach schools and some just right schools. Students will make note of admissions deadlines so that they can backward plan a strategy for maximizing their chances of acceptance at one of their top choice schools.
