About The Position

Farm Bureau Financial Services is seeking a college student for a summer 2027 internship offering exposure to the insurance industry and personal lines underwriting. The intern may work in the field, take calls assisting agents, or respond to agency inquiries by email. The role includes meaningful departmental work and project-based assignments, learning and networking with employees across the organization, and shared internship experiences introducing the company’s culture, leadership, and business operations. The internship provides entry-level underwriting experience and broader corporate exposure.

The position is based at the company’s office in West Des Moines, Iowa. The intern must be available to work 30–35 hours per week from mid-May to mid-August 2027. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis; the company does not offer or assume immigration sponsorship, including for candidates with OPT status.

Requirements

• Be a current college student.
• Be a quick learner interested in learning new concepts and ideas.
• Have effective communication skills, excellent customer service skills, and a team-focused approach.
• Be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
• Be available to work 30–35 hours per week from mid-May to mid-August 2027 at the West Des Moines, Iowa office.
• Be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis; sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
