About The Position

TopDog Law is seeking a Personal Injury Attorney for their New York office. This role is responsible for evaluating and developing personal injury claims, handling pre-litigation advocacy, negotiating settlements, and leading a team of paralegals and case managers. The attorney will maintain ownership of their case inventory, ensure efficient progression through the pre-litigation process, and deliver exceptional client service. Key responsibilities include analyzing medical treatment and damages, collaborating with internal teams and external providers, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics. The ideal candidate will possess an ownership mindset, treating their practice as if it were their own, and contributing to a culture of accountability, urgency, and excellence.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active admission to the New York Bar
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in Personal Injury law
  • Strong communication, negotiation, research, and writing skills
  • Ability to manage a robust case load independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of New York regulations, and procedures required
  • Must be located in or near the State of New York
  • Strong communication skills—written and verbal
  • Ability to think critically, prioritize effectively, and execute with speed

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new personal injury claims by reviewing medical records, liability, insurance coverage, and damages to determine case viability and develop a strategic plan designed to maximize recovery.
  • Build case value through thorough factual investigation, strategic medical guidance, evidence preservation, witness development, and early identification of liability and damages.
  • Handle all aspects of pre-litigation personal injury matters from intake through settlement, including claims, examinations under oath, hearings, insurance negotiations, and other advocacy necessary to achieve outstanding client outcomes.
  • Aggressively negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing parties to secure maximum settlements while preparing every case as though it may ultimately proceed to litigation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of paralegals and case managers while creating a culture of accountability, urgency, and excellence. Conduct regular file reviews, remove roadblocks, establish priorities, and ensure every team member is proactively advancing their cases toward resolution.
  • Maintain complete ownership of your case inventory by ensuring all files move efficiently through each stage of the pre-litigation process. Monitor critical deadlines, treatment progression, records collection, demands, negotiations, and settlement opportunities to prevent stagnation and maximize results.
  • Deliver exceptional client service through proactive communication, education, and guidance. Keep clients informed, manage expectations, and build trust throughout the life of every case.
  • Analyze medical treatment, future care needs, lost earnings, vocational issues, and other damages while working closely with medical providers, experts, and vendors to maximize claim value.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, litigation teams, medical providers, and firm leadership to continually improve workflows, increase efficiency, and maintain the highest quality standards across the department.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, confidentiality, and compliance with all applicable laws, court rules, and professional responsibility requirements.
  • Take full ownership of your cases and team performance. This role is for an attorney who enjoys building systems, coaching people, improving processes, and treating their practice as if it were their own.
