About The Position

Chaffin Luhana is seeking a motivated and entrepreneurial Personal Injury (PI) Attorney to manage their own caseload. This role is for an individual who wants to take ownership of cases from intake through resolution, working collaboratively within a pod structure. The attorney will be supported by a dedicated paralegal and a firm with extensive experience in mass torts and personal injury law, applying a rigorous approach to case management. The position involves running pre-litigation and litigation-stage PI files, developing evidence, drafting legal documents, negotiating with opposing counsel, and preparing cases for settlement or trial.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of personal injury experience.
  • Experience working up files end-to-end: intake, investigation, medical development, demands, negotiation, discovery, motion practice.
  • Ability to take a case from sign-up through trial-readiness.
  • Strong negotiation skills, including building leverage, positioning demands, and driving cases to resolution.
  • Entrepreneurial and competitive mindset, motivated by results and firm metrics.
  • Client-centered approach, treating clients with empathy during difficult times.
  • Team player, comfortable working in a pod-based structure.
  • Admitted to the Connecticut and New York bars.

Nice To Haves

  • PA, OH, or WV bar admission is a plus.
  • Experience with mass-tort practices.

Responsibilities

  • Litigate CT and NY personal injury cases, including auto, premises, and related matters.
  • Develop factual and medical evidence in coordination with clients, paralegals, and partners.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and other legal filings.
  • Argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions.
  • Negotiate directly with adjusters and defense counsel from initial demand through resolution.
  • Prepare cases for pre-litigation, litigation, and settlement.
  • Manage filing, service of process, and statute of limitations calendars for assigned cases.
  • Work closely with a dedicated paralegal, shared services team (records, medical review, intake, accounts), and partners.
