About The Position

The Personal Funds Specialist is responsible for tracking and reconciling consumer funds being managed by a caregiver as part of Careforth’s Shared Living program in Ohio. This individual is responsible for preparing, updating, and processing a variety of accounting records and financial statements. They will work with internal team members as well as consumers and caregivers to effectively gather required documents and coordinate reporting and reconciliation activities. This individual will also provide support and customer service to ensure positive working relationships with the families we serve.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years basic bookkeeping experience including bank reconciliations and petty cash management
  • Familiarity with state and federal benefits such as Social Security, Medicaid, and Ohio SNAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and mobile device applications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, internally and externally
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced, growth environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to appropriately manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Periodic travel required; Current driver's license in good standing, car registration, and auto insurance is required

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the collection of required financial documentation from Caregivers, providing follow-up and support; includes meeting caregivers in their home as needed
  • Track and reconcile all personal funds activity; communicate with caregivers to ensure resolution of outstanding items
  • Provide regular reports on outstanding documentation to care management leadership in collaboration with the Finance department
  • Conduct regular audits, including petty cash audits, and take mitigation steps as needed
  • Ensure compliance with personal fund regulations, including training caregivers on the state personal funds rule and monitoring for funds being spent on items reimbursable by Medicaid or other insurance providers; monitor and report alleged acts of misappropriation in accordance with state regulations
  • Provide regular review of guidance and updates from regulatory bodies to ensure appropriate standards are met; review policies and procedures and make recommendations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
