About The Position

Lakewood Health System is a comprehensive rural healthcare system in central Minnesota, dedicated to providing quality, personalized healthcare for a lifetime. We are seeking a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) to join our Care Center team. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on caregiving experience and build a foundation in healthcare, with the potential to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) within four months of hire. Our Care Center is an 87-bed, Medicare-certified skilled long-term care facility that includes long-term care, a specialized dementia unit, and a transitional care unit. As a PCA, you will work under licensed nurse supervision to help residents maintain their abilities, receive personalized care, and feel respected in their home.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain CNA certification within four months of hire
  • Current CPR/BLS certification, or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Ability to perform required resident care, transfers, and repositioning using established safety practices
  • Patient, dependable, and ready to learn
  • Provide thoughtful care that protects each resident’s dignity, privacy, and choices

Responsibilities

  • Help residents with daily routines, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
  • Assist with movement, repositioning, and transfers using proper techniques and approved equipment.
  • Promptly answer call lights and respond to residents’ requests with patience and care.
  • Observe residents, report changes or concerns to nursing staff, and complete measurements as trained and directed.
  • Record the care you provide and help keep residents’ surroundings clean, comfortable, and safe.
