About The Position

The Personal Care Attendant / Caregiver position at CCMC is responsible for providing services that support the overall health, holistic well-being, and optimal well-being of facility residents. This role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, engaging them in purposeful activities, documenting services, and ensuring a safe and clean environment. The position requires collaboration with other staff, adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining resident confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Ability to successfully complete all employee training components and provide return demonstration of knowledge and skills.
  • Must meet Division background check requirements.
  • Must demonstrate an interest in and ability to work with residents with dementia and challenging behaviors in a calm and confident manner.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize with multiple tasks, interruptions, and priorities.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with cleaning products in a safe manner.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers and the public.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move a resident by mechanical or non-mechanical means.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus.
  • Able to ambulate, stoop, bend, squat and move a maximum of 60 pounds during routine care of an assigned group of residents for an 8-hour shift.
  • Visual and Auditory activity within normal limits with or without prosthetics.
  • Frequent walking and transport of residents.
  • Push and pull wheelchairs and other equipment.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Oregon License as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred but not required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Training or ability to obtain CPR/First Aid cards within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability in caring for a population with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Responsibilities

  • Support the well-being and quality of life for residents.
  • Deliver assistance in activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
  • Encourage and promote resident self-involvement in care.
  • Provide individual and small group activities of purpose and diversion.
  • Document resident services in resident service plans.
  • Transport and/or assist residents with ambulation needs.
  • Support optimal nutrition and hydration through the provision of meals/snacks.
  • Serve meals in the dining area, adhering to infection control practices and resident preferences.
  • Bus dishes after meals and return dirty dishes to the kitchen.
  • Comply with in-service training (1-2 hours a month paid).
  • Work effectively and in collaboration with other staff to deliver resident-centered care.
  • Use all equipment in a safe and proper method.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the work environment.
  • Be familiar with the current condition and behaviors of each resident and report changes immediately.
  • Perform routine, visual safety check rounds to ensure the well-being of residents.
  • Organize tasks efficiently to deliver resident care.
  • Relate positively to residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Observe changes in the service plan to accommodate the changing needs of the resident.
  • Participate in the orientation of new personnel.
  • Clean assigned resident rooms daily, including dusting surfaces and emptying trash.
  • Clean resident bathrooms, common bathrooms, and common areas when needed.
  • Clean, vacuum, and spot mop hallways and other areas as needed.
  • Clean household kitchen/dining/activity area after use as assigned.
  • Process resident laundry, including personal laundry and soiled linens.
  • Other duties as assigned.
