As a Personal Care Attendant, you'll provide compassionate, one-on-one support to clients in the comfort of their own homes. More than just a caregiver, you'll become a trusted source of comfort, companionship, and encouragement, helping clients maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics, safe use of mechanical and adaptive equipment, and infection control practices, including universal precautions
  • The ability to provide emotional support and foster positive social interactions with clients and their families
  • Experience assisting with bathing, dressing, ambulation, transfers, self-administered medications, and other personal care needs outlined in a Plan of Care
  • Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and occasional schedule adjustments in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of and commitment to emergency reporting procedures
  • A compassionate, dependable, and client-focused approach to care
  • High school education or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience working with the elderly and/or adults with disabilities preferred.
  • Valid Vermont driver’s license.
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment history and physical examination.
  • Must successfully pass background checks including driver record, criminal, adult and child abuse background, and Office of Inspector General (OIG) check/review.
  • Must show proof of qualified auto insurance at time of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and other activities of daily living
  • Support clients with light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and cooking
  • Run errands and provide assistance with daily routines
  • Offer meaningful companionship and emotional support
  • Monitor client well-being and communicate changes to your supervisor
  • Follow each client's individualized Plan of Care to ensure safe, high-quality care
