About The Position

This role is for a Part-time Personal Care Assistant at Longview, Christian Health’s assisted living residence, responsible for assisting residents with daily care in accordance with established nursing care procedures and serving as a liaison to nursing staff for clinical care concerns. The position requires demonstrating an understanding of and embracing the Christian Health mission statement.

Requirements

  • Must be experienced and knowledgeable in the needs of geriatric residents.
  • Must have experience in dealing with the elderly and providing daily support services such as bathing, dressing, and general assistance.
  • Ability to provide organized, efficient, kind, and engaging personal care.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must have a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) certification in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting residents with daily care in accordance with established nursing care procedures.
  • Serving as a liaison to nursing staff for communication of and/or routing of clinical care concerns.
  • Maintaining an awareness of resident service plans and implementing care need changes promptly.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of Assisted Living principles including Resident choice, privacy, independence, and dignity.
  • Supervising and demonstrating pro-active care for residents on a daily basis.
  • Assisting residents with ambulation as needed.
  • Advising the nurse of concerns.
  • Ensuring all care is provided in privacy and in a sensitive and respectful manner.
  • Providing assistance with showering and sponge bathing.
  • Providing assistance with oral hygiene, shaving, hair care, and make-up.
  • Assisting with meal service, maintaining awareness of residents' special diets/needs and assisting as needed with dining.
  • Demonstrating knowledge/use of standard precautions.
  • Making scheduled beds.
  • Returning clean personal laundry to residents, taking care of residents' laundry and linen needs when necessary or when scheduled.
  • Answering call bells promptly and courteously.
  • Transporting residents within the facility as needed.
  • Reporting changes in Resident status, behaviors, and other concerns promptly to the nurse.
  • Performing minor housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain the orderly and neat appearance of the facility.
  • Documenting accurately according to facility policy.
  • Receiving/transferring oral and written reports at change of shift.
  • Demonstrating required clinical skills.
  • Assisting Activity Staff with daily activities (helping transport and/or encouraging attendance, active assist when assigned).
