About The Position

United Ability, located in the Oxmoor area of Birmingham, provides a variety of services to adults with disabilities. The Personal Care Assistant helps adults with disabilities learn and participate in activities that enrich their lives. The position involves collaborating with other team members and providing daily personal care and support. Job duties may change, and additional duties may be assigned as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Requirements

• Ability to push wheelchairs.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds independently or 100 pounds with a co-worker.
• Ability to stoop and kneel throughout the day.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with eating, toileting, and dressing.
• Keep the supervisor informed about individuals’ health or behavioral changes.
• Assist individuals while they enter and exit the building.
• Assemble needed supplies and maintain inventory.
