Requirements

  • Minimum qualification of Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Two years'+ experience in an Australian residential aged care facility
  • A positive team approach to caring
  • The ability to follow policies, processes and instructions

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate IV in Aged Care or other relevant qualifications
  • Medication administration training and Endorsement
  • Experience in dementia care or palliative care
  • Further training related to the Aged Care Quality Standards
  • A desire to learn with ongoing professional development and participation in continuous quality programs

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) in a respectful and dignified manner
  • Support residents to maintain independence while tailoring care to their individual preferences, cultural background, beliefs and life experiences
  • Monitor, observe and report any changes in physical, mental or emotional wellbeing to the clinical team
  • Ensure safe and effective personal care practices, including infection prevention and control, adherence to individualised care plans, and the use of appropriate equipment
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential documentation, including daily care notes, incident reports, resident preferences and communication
  • Uphold residents’ rights to dignity, choice, privacy and identity in all aspects of care
  • Work within, scope of practice, following organisational policies, procedures Code of Conduct, safety guidelines, and relevant legislation
