About The Position
Purpose: Responsible for direct care of residents by providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADL). Essential Functions- Job Duties: The following duties are considered essential to the job. Qualified individuals must have the ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform the following duties: Act in anethical, respectful, responsive, reliable, authentic,innovativeand empatheticmanner Reports resident concerns promptly tonursing leadership. Assistsresidents with AM/PM care, ensuring that all residents are toileted,cleanandwell groomedat all times and asks forassistanceif residents are resistant toassistance; Ensures thatresident’snutritional needs are met. Respond to resident call bells as quickly as possible to meet resident needs. Answers telephone appropriately andcommunicateseffectively;trains,orientsand mentors new and current team members. Assistswith delivery of mail toresident. Documents resident care appropriatelyin Point Click Care Providesassistanceforgeneral room maintenance to include making and changing of linens, proper care of clothing,maintaininggeneral appearance,andemptieswaste paperbaskets in resident rooms.Operates theCarpet Shampooermachine for spills.Performs necessary tasks tomaintaina clean, safe environment forresidents. Assumes responsibility for daily assignment of residents,providing assistanceas needed with ADLs. Encourages residents tomaintaintheir independence withADLs, butassistsresidents when they are unable toperform themindependently. Initiates interactions with residents using conversation, games, and walks and promotes participation and socialization; Encourages andassistswith coordination and facilitation of programs. Accompanies residents to and from activities and the dining room as needed. Promotes daily orientation among residents, keeping calendars up todateand announcing programs to residents. Upon admission,assistsresidents with unpacking belongings; orients new residents to their room, call bell,schedulesand environment. Responsible for obtaining a shift report on residents upon arrival for duty. Assistsand attends Dining areas during residentmeal timesto assure adequate nutrition and makes available tray service to room bound residents. Demonstrates polite and courteous behavior at all timesand directs concernsthoughthe chain of command. (1.ChargeStaff - 2. RCCor MCC- 3.DOW– 4. Administrator.) Assistsin thetrainingof new PCA’s. Performs other duties as requested by supervisory staff. Secondary Functions- Job Duties: The following are secondary to the essential functions listed above: Attend andparticipatesin staff meetings, projects,special events, committees, and mandatory training asappropriate. Maintains safety and health rules byparticipatingin training along with implementing and following protocols related to OSHA & CDC regulations andCardinal Senior ManagementStandards asrequired. Promotes and encourages individualized resident independence whilemaintainingresident dignity, individuality,confidentialityand following infection control policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of the PA DHSDirect Care Staff Person Training Course/Test
- Individuals in this position must have obtained age eighteen (18) prior to first day of employment or transfer intoposition
- Current First Aid and CPR/AEDCertification, or willingness to be trained byCardinal Senior Management during employment.
