About The Position

The Personal Banker Associate I role is designed to prepare selected candidates to become a Retail Personal Banker I through a 4–8 week onboarding and education program, including rotations in operations and Sales & Service and a concluding certification. The resulting Financial Center position uses a consultative sales process to identify and meet customers’ and prospects’ financial needs, acquire new households, deepen existing relationships, and process teller transactions as part of the platform staff.

The role is accountable for managing risk by following policies and procedures, raising concerns, and acting in customers’ and colleagues’ best interests. It works within the Bank’s risk appetite while identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risk. The position requires travel within the affiliate for training, travel outside the affiliate for classroom training, and scheduling flexibility. The work environment is a normal office environment and includes extended viewing of computer screens.

Requirements

• College degree or work experience providing transferable skills, or a combination of education and experience.
• Ability to develop comfort with sales activities to acquire new consumer household and small business customers and/or cross-sell to established customers.
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of advanced math functions for analyzing credit and financial information.
• Ability to professionally represent Fifth Third Bank in appearance and verbal and written communication.
• Ability to develop working knowledge of Retail policies and procedures and use sound judgment in decision-making.
• S.A.F.E. Act registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) is required at the time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build customer profiles and identify current and future financial needs.
• Maintain knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products and services and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Use CAMP and other approved marketing tools to proactively contact customers and schedule financial reviews.
• Cross-sell to existing customers and participate in directed outside sales activities, including onsite presentations, business sales calls, and community financial literacy events.
• Build working relationships with assigned Business Partners and refer customers for appropriate financial solutions.
• Meet or exceed customer experience and individual and team production goals, contributing to year-over-year revenue growth measured by Financial Center P&L.
• Guide CSRs on the sales and referral process.
• Promote customer satisfaction through a friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor.
• Answer customer questions confidently and take ownership of customer issues.
• Protect confidential business information and maintain a position of trust and responsibility.
• Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and related policies, maintaining ethical behavior.
• Follow established policies and procedures when opening and servicing Retail products.
• Participate in consumer loan and bankcard processes, managing sourced loans from application through closing.
• Participate in opening and closing the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed by the Financial Center Manager.
• Stay current on Retail procedures intended to mitigate fraud and unnecessary risk or exposure.
• Process teller transactions and work as a member of the platform staff.
