About The Position

The Person In Charge (PIC) is a primary contact for customers, providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service. In the absence of store management, the PIC is responsible for the store's operation, making decisions to ensure maximum profit, efficiency, and superior customer service. This role typically involves supervising store employees during evening shifts and also includes duties of a Cashier-Checker. The PIC may be required to work in various departments within the store.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
  • Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
  • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of all positions within the store.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service as defined by the employer and company policy.
  • Handle emergencies, customer complaints, employee or customer accidents, and supervise all store personnel when management is absent.
  • Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the sales floor to monitor service and product replenishment.
  • Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
  • Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
  • Operate an electronic scanning cash register to total customer purchases.
  • Receive payment and count back correct change.
  • Bag groceries in paper, canvas, or plastic bags.
  • Lift bags into grocery carts.
  • Offer and perform carry-out assistance if a Courtesy Clerk is unavailable.
  • May complete close of day functions in the office.
  • May be responsible for counting out-of-stock product.
  • May count tills when other cashier-checkers leave.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
