About The Position

Join our Community Development team and help residents, contractors, and businesses bring great projects to life in one of Arizona’s most beautiful cities! As a Permit Technician, you’ll be the friendly expert guiding customers through permits, applications, inspections, and city processes — all while keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3-5 years' experience in customer service, permit issuance, administrative and clerical work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of Permit Technician certification issued by the International Code Council (ICC) at hire.
• Commissioned as a Notary Public in the State of Arizona based on department need.
• Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for the position.
• Valid Driver's License of the appropriate class.

Nice To Haves

• Customer service experience in the construction industry as it relates to the building permit process.
• Superior time management, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable and flexible, with the ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at the front counter, by phone, and online
• Process permit applications and construction documents
• Coordinate inspections and route plans for review
• Maintain records and permit tracking systems
• Help contractors and residents understand permit requirements
• Work closely with planners, inspectors, and engineers
