About The Position

This position will be assigned to work in the Department of Transportation and Public Works, Code Enforcement Division, in Clayton, Missouri. The Permit Technician Specialist is responsible for resolving citizen permit processing inquiries via phone call, desktop applications, or in-person requests. Independent decision-making without review by a superior, the high consequences of error for inaccurate work, and the knowledge and application of governing statutes, ordinances and codes distinguishes this from OA45 - Permit Technician Assistant.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of related work experience
  • Minimum age 18 years old

Responsibilities

  • Answer and remediate any type of inbound citizen request for permit website navigation, e-permit portal, application and related forms for building, electrical, land disturbance, mechanical, plumbing and occupancy
  • Identify proper permit type requirements, plan review, property research, fees and related tasks for permit processing
  • Moderate Permit Application Center (PAC) verification for collaborating County departments or outside agencies review
  • Provide assistance to lower-level employees and the general public
  • Locate, maintain and update information maintained in software applications
  • Conduct outbound customer service for permit concerns, approval and fee notifications
  • May have independent work assignments not associated with other’s work
  • Maintain filing, scanning and records
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned
