About The Position

The City of Springfield is seeking applicants for a Permit Inspection Administrator within the Office of Public Works, Building & Zoning Division. This role is responsible for overseeing building permit processing, inspections, and code enforcement activities. The administrator will investigate complaints, coordinate inspections, prepare reports on code compliance, and supervise permit office staff. They will also develop department policies and procedures, assess penalty fees, enforce City codes, and participate in staff meetings and training. A key aspect of the role involves providing guidance and customer service to a variety of stakeholders including contractors, property owners, design professionals, government agencies, and the public.

Requirements

  • Completion of four years of college with coursework in planning, business administration, public administration, or a related field, and two years of related professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and enforcement procedures.
  • Ability to supervise staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Current City employees must have completed their probationary period and attained certified status in their current position.

Responsibilities
