About The Position

Spanish River Christian School (SRCS) is seeking a passionate, faith-driven, certified teacher to serve as a Permanent Substitute and Substitute Coordinator. This role involves teaching across various grade levels (preschool through eighth grade) and special subjects (art, STEM, music, Spanish, PE), ensuring curriculum aligns with Christian values. The ideal candidate will be adept at connecting with students of all ages and inspiring a love for learning. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this position will coordinate all substitute teachers, acting as the primary contact for staff needing substitutes and managing the scheduling of all substitutes. The coordinator will also be responsible for training substitutes on lesson plans, teaching duties, and classroom protocols.

Requirements

  • Valid Florida Teaching Certification
  • Teaching experience
  • Highly organized and able to maintain a changing calendar and schedule
  • Active member of Spanish River Presbyterian Church or another church approved by school leadership
  • A strong personal commitment to the Christian faith and biblical worldview
  • Demonstrated ability to engage students from preschool age to eighth grade, including special subjects such as art, STEM, music, Spanish, PE

Responsibilities

  • Model a mature Christian faith through speech, conduct, and daily life
  • Integrate biblical principles into classroom instruction and student interactions
  • Demonstrate daily commitment to prayer, Scripture, and Christian service
  • Foster respectful, caring relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Fill the role of classroom teacher for PK3-8th Grade, including specials subjects
  • Communicate with teachers needing to take time off
  • Train substitutes on classroom lesson plans, teaching/assisting duties and responsibilities, and classroom protocols
  • Add teacher/ assistant time off on the Permanent Sub Calendar
  • Coordinate subs for teachers and assistants (planned in advance as well as ‘day-of’ needs)
  • Communicate with subs to fill needs
  • Be available 7AM – 8PM to receive and respond to communication from teachers, etc. regarding substitute coordination
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote a unified school community
  • Attend staff meetings and staff devotional time
  • Support school programs and co-curricular activities beyond the classroom
