About The Position

Auberle has evolved into a premier multi-service agency with programs spanning Workforce Development, Housing, Foster Care, Young Adult Services, and Behavioral Health. Auberle’s mission is to help build strong individuals, families, and communities. The Foster Care Program is located at the main campus in McKeesport with work throughout Allegheny and neighboring counties where foster homes are located and young people served are from. The program recruits, certifies, and maintains a secure and safe environment for young people, referred by a county protective agency, who cannot live with their legal guardian at that time. The program works to assist the young person in finding permanency either through reunification with that original caregiver or within an alternate family setting. This program includes traditional and therapeutic level of services as well as services through the Statewide Adoption Network (SWAN).

Requirements

  • Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances
  • Bachelors preferred, related experience & “lived experience” may be accepted
  • Requires frequent travel throughout greater Pittsburgh Area, including transportation of young people, with use of all types of car seats.
  • Valid PA driver’s license, reliable vehicle, valid car insurance & registration.
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Flexibility to work evenings for weekends

Responsibilities

  • Help children gather their history and maintain all the information possible about the child in one document.
  • Engage with children to help them prepare for permanency.
  • Create scrapbooks for the children to process trauma and honor the past.
  • Provide extensive history and information to potential adoptive families.
  • Educate families on ways to engage with their children and process the grief and loss as they get older.
