About The Position

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results-oriented individual to serve as Area Administrator of Permanency Services. Subject to management approval, the position oversees Permanency Team Supervisors responsible for comprehensive child welfare services throughout the region. It contributes to regional planning for child protection and child welfare and coordinates community and field office support with counterparts in the Child Protection service area. The role is based in Marion, Illinois, with a hybrid schedule of one to five days per week in the office depending on operational needs, and requires travel to various locations. This is a four-year term appointment, which may be renewed for successive four-year terms at the Director’s discretion, and is subject to a probationary period. The anticipated starting salary is $10,000–$12,000 per month.

Requirements

An MSW, a master’s degree in a related human services field, a master’s degree in business administration, or a juris doctorate.
Four years of progressively responsible administrative child welfare experience with an MSW, or five years of progressively responsible administrative child welfare experience with a master’s degree in a related human services field, business administration, or a juris doctorate.
Ability to pass a background check.
Ability to travel in the performance of duties.
Appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and oversee the administration and integration of comprehensive child welfare services for assigned areas within the region.
Maintain authority and accountability for system outcomes and continuity of care in designated areas.
Direct, coordinate, and review the activities of program personnel.
Provide extensive input into the formulation and development of policies and procedures for program services, and direct their implementation within the area of oversight.
Coordinate community and field office support with the appropriate Area Administrators for Child Protection Services.
Advise the Regional Administrator of program needs, achievements, and problematic issues, and develop strategies and proposals to address problem areas and enhance operations.
Drive or travel to various locations in the performance of duties.
