About The Position

The Perioperative Services Aide is responsible for stocking anesthesia supplies, assisting patients with transfers, cleaning rooms and equipment between patients to aid in turnover, and transporting equipment and supplies within surgical services departments. This role provides support for OR desk scheduling operations, including answering phones and scheduling surgeries.

Requirements

  • High School graduate.
  • Successful completion of hospital orientation.
  • Experience using computers and computer software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Stocking anesthesia supplies in each room.
  • Assisting patients off and on carts, OR/SDS/PACU tables, or transferring to wheelchairs.
  • Assisting the OR team with cleaning OR/SDS/PACU rooms and equipment between patients for turnover.
  • Transporting equipment and supplies to the surgical services departments.
  • Ensuring self-compliance with professional, regulatory, and government standards of care.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of needs and tasks for the specific unit.
  • Transporting patients safely to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner.
  • Assisting and positioning patients in and out of beds, carts, and wheelchairs.
  • Transporting medical equipment, supplies, and laboratory specimens to designated treatment, diagnostic, and patient care areas.
  • Cleaning rooms and equipment as requested.
  • Monitoring and maintaining surgical and anesthesia supplies and ordering replacements as needed.
  • Providing support for OR desk scheduling operations, such as answering telephones, scheduling surgeries, communicating with clinics, and other clerical functions.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
