Perioperative PCT (Patient Care Technician) - Operating Room
About The Position
Assists the clinical team with indirect patient care and nonpatient-care responsibilities in the operating room. Duties include turning over rooms by removing trash, cleaning all areas of the OR—including the OR table—making up the table, and mopping the floor. The PCT gathers equipment, supplies, and instrumentation for surgical cases; changes OR tables when necessary; and sets up the room for the next case or first case of the day, including making the bed and positioning the equipment needed for the case. The role also includes taking specimens to the lab and returning supplies to CSP and putting away returns stored in the upstairs OR area. The PCT is on their feet for the entire shift, so comfortable, supportive footwear is needed. The role is based in a fast-paced, high-tech surgical environment. Cooper’s Camden Campus has 30 operating rooms and performs more than 70 surgeries each day.
Requirements
- Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support).
- Visual and auditory acuity for information retrieval and computer monitor use.
- Weekend, holiday, and rotation availability is required.
Nice To Haves
- Acute Care Hospital experience, such as experience as a Nursing Assistant, Unit Secretary, or PCS.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
