About The Position

This is a paid, six-month educational program for registered nurses interested in a career in Surgical Services. The program prepares nurses for Operating Room nursing through a standardized, evidence-based online curriculum, textbook readings, hands-on skills labs, and a clinical practicum. Participants work alongside an Operating Room staff nurse preceptor and receive peer support, nurturing, and continuous feedback. The March 1, 2027 cohort requires full-time work on 8-hour days during training. After successfully completing the program, participants will be offered a full-time position. Most positions are usually on first shift, but other shifts may be offered based on department needs. OR surgical nurses participate in weekend and holiday rotations and are required to take call. Under the supervision of a clinical nurse manager, the nurse provides patient care across the care continuum, collaborates with patients, families, and the healthcare team, and performs the nursing duties described in the posting. The role also includes professional development, collaboration, compliance, and other duties as assigned.
