About The Position

This position performs organized clerical duties for the Perioperative Evaluation and Preparation (PEP) Department. The role provides essential clerical support to PEP Coordinators, manages patient scheduling, organizes patient-related materials, maintains filing systems, and handles communication with external facilities and physicians' offices.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in typing/computer data entry.
  • Two years’ experience in reception, registration, business office, or related area.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical support to assigned PEP Coordinators.
  • Schedule PEP calls with surgical patients in the appropriate appointment books.
  • Organize the flow of patient related materials through the department to ensure appropriate testing and evaluations are completed.
  • Maintain an organized filing system.
  • Initiate requests for presurgical testing from outside testing facilities and physicians’ offices.
  • Receive fax and incoming mail and distributes/files appropriately.
  • Receives and places calls and handles telephone requests with courtesy, tactfulness, and accuracy.
  • Provides phone support to Center for Surgical Optimization clinics as needed.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, hazard-free working space at all times.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies in the department.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
