About The Position

The Perioperative Care Partner assists nursing staff with patient care in operating rooms, including positioning and transferring anesthetized patients and cleaning operating rooms after surgical cases. The role provides general non-technical assistance to nursing staff and supports productivity, efficiency, and a positive patient surgical experience through teamwork and customer service. The position is onsite at Tilghman Medical Center, with a day-shift schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with flexibility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrate mature and conscientious behavior.
• Demonstrate sound judgment and technical skills.
• Obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for Pennsylvania within 90 days.
• Ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds, including pushing and pulling patients on beds or stretchers and assisting with lateral transfers.
• Frequent to continuous standing and walking.

Responsibilities

• Participate in activities designed to increase operating room productivity and efficiency.
• Partner with the surgical team to provide excellent customer service and promote a positive patient surgical experience, with age-appropriate responsibilities.
• Assist with transporting patients to and from the operating room.
• Ensure instruments and supplies are available and assist with opening them.
• Provide emotional support during pre-operative contact with patients, as observed by unit and department nurses.
• Clean and disinfect operating rooms after surgical cases.
• Provide appropriate care and handling of patient specimens.
• Assist nursing staff with positioning and transferring anesthetized patients.
