About The Position

The Perinatal Technician II uses technical skills to provide assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses and other professionals in the operating room and in the Labor and Delivery suite. The position works under the supervision of a registered nurse in delivering safe, effective care to the patient in the intra operative, and post-delivery period and maintains surgical standards and sterile field both in the operating room and in the delivery room. The position provides general patient care and basic patient education. The position performs duties which indirectly support patient care such as recordkeeping and maintaining supply inventories. The Perinatal Technician II maintains sterile supplies and instruments and trains uncertified Perinatal Technicians to perform their role and ensures quality care provided by the uncertified Perinatal Technicians.

Requirements

• Technical skills to provide assistance in the operating room and Labor and Delivery suite.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Knowledge of surgical standards and sterile field maintenance.
• Ability to provide general patient care and basic patient education.
• Skills in recordkeeping and maintaining supply inventories.
• Ability to maintain sterile supplies and instruments.
• Ability to train uncertified Perinatal Technicians.
