About The Position

Within the scope of practice of the Registered Nurses in British Columbia, the Perinatal Nurse will focus on health promotion, disease prevention, rehabilitative care, supportive care, administration, research, data management, and quality assurance. This role involves performing nursing skills such as point of care testing, specimen acquisition (including venipuncture and arranging referral where necessary), assisting with child development checks, newborn home visits, pregnancy tests and contraception (including administration of injectable contraception). The nurse will also conduct outreach to harmony house providing care within the scope of practice and connecting perinatal clients to other healthcare providers as needed, assist with patient check-ins and encourage patients to access care to increase access to care and reduce barriers to health care, and assess, plan, implement, document, and evaluate the care needs and goals for individual patients/clients and their caregivers/families.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and/or Registered Nurse.
  • Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Acceptable experience in a clinical health setting or cross-cross-cultural health promotion field.
  • OAT Prescribing or willing to get; STI / Contraception certification or willing to get
