Perianesthesia Registered Nurse (RN) - Cath Lab, days
About The Position
MaineGeneral Health is seeking an experienced RN to join our Cath Lab team at Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. The Perianesthesia RN provides specialized nursing care to patients before and after cardiac catheterization and other interventional procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and has strong assessment, IV, and critical-thinking skills. The Perianesthesia RN provides direct patient care during the immediate pre-procedure and post-procedure period, utilizing the nursing process and following applicable standards of practice, organizational policies, and MaineGeneral Health's mission and values.
Requirements
- Current Maine RN license or ability to obtain one promptly, required
- At least 2 years of critical care or medical/surgical RN experience preferred
- Strong assessment and IV skills
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing patient and department needs
Nice To Haves
- Previous Cath Lab experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and provides patient education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
- May precept student nurses and new hires.
