About The Position

This role involves providing case coverage for surgeons primarily at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center and also M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital. The Perfusionist will handle predominantly adult bypass cases, including on-pump Cabs, Valves, minimally invasive valves, heart and lung transplants, complex aortic reconstruction, adult congenital, and VADs. The position also includes covering ECMO (excluding bedside management), other procedures like liver transplants, HIPEC, and AngioVacs. Additionally, the Perfusionist will train future Perfusionists by clinically precepting students from various programs. The team consists of 14 adult perfusionists working in both academic and community hospital settings, with supportive surgeons.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited Cardiovascular Perfusion Technology Program.
• Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or board eligible.
• Certified in BLS.
• Hard-working, has a positive attitude, and a desire to be a team-player.
• Willing to contribute to the growth and development of the team and has the ability to problem-solve and develop creative solutions to day-to-day challenges.
• Must be able to respond to University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis within 30 minutes while on call.

Responsibilities

• Provide case coverage for 10 surgeons (and growing) primarily at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center and also M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital
• Handle predominantly adult bypass cases (including on-pump Cabs, Valves, minimally invasive valves, heart and lung transplants, complex aortic reconstruction, adult congenital, and VADs)
• Cover ECMO including initiations/transports from outside hospitals, excluding bedside management
• Handle other procedures including liver transplants, HIPEC, AngioVacs, and more
• Train future Perfusionists by clinically precepting students from various programs including UNMC and several others
