About The Position

George Fox University's Performing Arts department is seeking temporary production and/or event staff support to assist the team in creating a meaningful and engaging experience for students and community members. The department frequently hires temporary employees for short-term, project-based assignments during busy production periods, which can include plays, musicals, festivals, peak box office times, and recruitment events. Specific tasks and reporting structures will be clearly defined at the time of hire.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent (or currently enrolled in high school or college).
Legal authorization to work in the United States.
A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees.
A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church.
Agreement to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
Ability to be on feet for long periods of time, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Experience in customer service, event support, theater, music, or related areas.
Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions and work collaboratively.
Previous experience supporting live performances or large-scale events.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak production periods.
Welding and rigging experience.
Experience in construction of scenery for live theatre.
Excellent carpentry and construction skills.
Expertise in safe and proper use of a wide variety of power tools.
Familiarity with a wide variety of scenic techniques and materials.

Responsibilities

Constructing and altering theatrical costumes, managing wardrobe maintenance, and assisting with backstage quick-changes during live performances.
Safely constructing, assembling, and repairing stage scenery, flats, and platforms using wood-shop power tools under the direction of the theatre technical director and/or scene shop manager.
Assisting with the setup, operation, and strike of lighting, audio, and other technical production equipment during live performances and events.
Managing ticket sales, processing transactions via the box office ticketing system, resolving patron seating inquiries, and providing front-of-house customer service or event operations.
Communicating effectively and courteously with employees, students, and the public in a spirit of teamwork, respect, and customer service.
Acting as a Christian role model to students through actions, words, and lifestyle.
Demonstrating experience working cross-culturally with respect, appreciation, and humility.
Assisting with setting up or striking event spaces, greeting and supporting guests, helping backstage with production needs, or providing general operational support to ensure events run smoothly and safely.
