About The Position

Saint Andrew’s School is seeking a Performing Arts Instructor responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth; and for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic and artistic success. This position will be responsible for teaching a combination of dance classes to students in grades 4-8, and will also support choreography for the fall Novemberfest and spring Celebration of Dance, as well as choreography for the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School musical productions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Outstanding teaching skills
  • At least three years teaching in an independent school or equivalent experience
  • A strong background in curriculum and instruction in discipline specific content
  • Possess a collegiality and willingness to collaborate with colleagues
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote an inclusive school culture
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to a growth mindset and continuous professional development
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and for the majority of the work day.
  • May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • All employees must successfully maintain an acceptable Level II criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • minimum of 5 years teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement dance curriculum in alignment with the performing arts department expectations
  • Implement instructional activities that actively engage students in meaningful learning
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues to best support students in the theatre and dance productions and performances
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues on a regular basis
  • Create performing arts course documentation as determined by the divisional and department expectations, working to vertically align curriculum
  • Collaborate with the Director of Performing Arts to verify student eligibility and communicate course requirements
  • Regularly attend all division, department, and production meetings
  • This position may serve as an advisor
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Performing Arts
