MoMANew York, NY

About The Position

The Museum of Modern Art seeks individuals to perform Simone Forti’s Dance Constructions (1960-61). Simone Forti began developing these pieces based on ordinary movement, chance, and simple objects like rope and plywood boards. First performed in 1960, this suite of nine works explores the nature of social relationships, often directing performers to cooperate or collaborate to carry out task-based instructions. It frames a connection between the sculptural object and the body in motion that prefigured many concerns of Minimalist sculpture. Dance Constructions entered MoMA’s collection in 2015.
