About The Position

This is an entry-level position suitable for students with basic foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores who have completed only introductory courses. The role involves performing various types of cultural dances and attending practice sessions to upgrade the quality of performance. Other job-related duties may be assigned by management. The work environment at BYU–Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center supports diversity and excellence.

Requirements

  • Good health and capable of full range body movement and be capable of moving freely among the guests.
  • Look Polynesian.
  • Able to communicate in English.
  • Must exemplify the university Honor Code, including the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations.
  • All applicants must be available for an on-site interview at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, HI.
  • Must attach resume and current semester class schedule (weekly view).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Polynesian dancing experience helpful but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various types of cultural dances.
  • Attends practice sessions to upgrade the quality of performance of current dances.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the management.
  • Learn, and subsequently perform, the various dances of each assigned Polynesian cultures.
