About The Position

Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Centers is seeking a Performance Improvement Specialist for crisis services. This role is crucial in guiding individuals through turbulent times by overseeing follow-up care for those transitioning from crisis, ensuring compliance with documentation for external funding sources, and contributing to agency performance improvement reports. The position requires a commitment to meeting and maintaining expected performance standards, with Lighthouse providing the necessary tools and training for success. The specialist will monitor follow-up requirements for individuals in crisis, conduct chart reviews for compliance with ODMHSAS and OHCA standards, complete client satisfaction surveys, and contribute to performance improvement reports. They will also monitor for errors in CDC's and assist crisis leaders with corrections. This role is supervised by the Manager of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related field from an accredited university and two years of performance improvement and/or clinical documentation experience OR a Master’s degree in a mental health field with one year of performance improvement and/or clinical documentation experience.
  • May also have experience in providing direct services in a mental health related field.
  • Must meet ODMHSAS requirements for certification as a Case Manager II within 3 months of employment and maintain certification annually.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and/or psychology; and of current social and economic problems.
  • Thorough skill in exercising good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions.
  • Skill in organizing and presenting facts and opinions clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other Lighthouse personnel and governmental representatives.
  • Skill in organizing and conducting projects simultaneously.
  • Expectation of core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders, trauma informed care and collaborative care.
  • Knowledge of case management procedures and integrated care.
  • Knowledge of inpatient, crisis stabilization and outpatient services for adults and children.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Must develop working relationships with clinical staff and supervisors.
  • Must possess the ability to train staff and assess for comprehension of information.
  • Must be very detail oriented.
  • Ability to commute/relocate to Ardmore, OK 73401: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee follow up care for those transitioning from crisis.
  • Ensure compliance of documentation with external funding sources.
  • Assist with agency performance improvement reports.
  • Monitor follow up requirements by ODMHSAS for individuals in crisis and provide follow up calls for continuity of care.
  • Complete chart reviews for compliance with ODMHSAS and OHCA standards.
  • Complete quarterly client satisfaction surveys.
  • Contribute to quarterly performance improvement reports.
  • Monitor CDC’s for errors and assist crisis leaders with needed corrections.
  • Follow guidelines and ensure compliance of clinical records for Title XIX; Medicaid, Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS), and other funding sources or regulatory agencies.
  • Review clinical records for funding source and accreditation standards and instruct staff on chart correction and compliance on a regular basis.
  • Monitor OMDHSAS requirements for follow-up care for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
  • Provide case management to individuals after a crisis service or crisis unit stay and work to ensure the individual receives appropriate transition to after-care services.
  • Work with both crisis and outpatient teams for transitional care.
  • Ensure that ETPS measures for follow-up care are being monitored for positive results.
  • Monitor CDC’s and documentation required for billing crisis services and work with supervisory team members on needed corrections.
  • Ensure completion of NODOS process for individuals entering crisis services as needed.
  • Travel to Lighthouse sites (or provide via Zoom) to ensure agency wide compliance and to provide staff training.
  • Assist in data collection by completing quarterly reports for consumer satisfaction (if assigned).
  • Monitor service verification during chart reviews.
  • May provide assistance in updating and maintaining accurate workflows for outpatient and/or crisis services and assist with staff training on workflows.
  • Assist in recording data and preparing compliance reports under the direction of the Manager of CQI.
  • Assist in preparing for certification audits.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with direct supervisor, site supervisors, and clinical staff.
  • Review and understand service code definitions and have the ability to relate the service code definition to the chart documentation.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested.
