About The Position

Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Centers is seeking a Performance Improvement Specialist for its crisis services. This role is crucial for guiding individuals through turbulent times and ensuring a smooth transition from crisis care. The specialist will oversee follow-up care, ensure compliance with documentation standards for external funding sources, and contribute to agency performance improvement reports. The position requires a commitment to meeting and maintaining expected performance standards, with Lighthouse providing necessary tools and training for success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related field from an accredited university and two years of performance improvement and/or clinical documentation experience OR a Master’s degree in a mental health field with one year of performance improvement and/or clinical documentation experience.
  • May also have experience in providing direct services in a mental health related field.
  • Must meet ODMHSAS requirements for certification as a Case Manager II within 3 months of employment and maintain certification annually.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and/or psychology; and of current social and economic problems.
  • Thorough skill in exercising good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions.
  • Skill in organizing and presenting facts and opinions clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other Lighthouse personnel and governmental representatives.
  • Skill in organizing and conducting projects simultaneously.
  • An expectation of core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders, trauma informed care and collaborative care.
  • Knowledge of case management procedures and integrated care.
  • Knowledge of inpatient, crisis stabilization and outpatient services for adults and children.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Must develop working relationships with clinical staff and supervisors.
  • Must possess the ability to train staff and assess for comprehension of information.
  • Must be very detail oriented.
  • Employee must be willing and able to perform all job related travel normally associated with this position.
  • Must meet “satisfactory” expectations at any scheduled job performance evaluation, coaching and/or Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Must complete Lighthouse required training and resulting follow up and consultation as required at hire, annually and as directed by Supervisor.
  • Must possess skill in working cooperatively and effectively with clients, staff, management and other professional and community groups.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee follow up care for individuals transitioning from crisis.
  • Ensure compliance of documentation with external funding sources (Title XIX, Medicaid, ODMHSAS, OHCA).
  • Assist with agency performance improvement reports, including quarterly client satisfaction surveys.
  • Monitor CDC’s for errors and assist crisis leaders with corrections.
  • Provide follow up calls for continuity of care.
  • Complete chart reviews for compliance with ODMHSAS and OHCA standards.
  • Monitor ETPS measures for follow-up care.
  • Monitor CDC’s and documentation required for billing crisis services and work with supervisory team members on needed corrections.
  • Work with the Manager of Revenue Cycle when billing issues are identified.
  • Ensure completion of NODOS process for individuals entering crisis services as needed.
  • Travel to Lighthouse sites (or provide via Zoom) to ensure agency-wide compliance and provide staff training.
  • Monitor service verification during chart reviews.
  • May provide assistance in updating and maintaining accurate workflows for outpatient and/or crisis services and assist with staff training on workflows.
  • Assist in recording data and preparing compliance reports under the direction of the Manager of CQI.
  • Assist in preparing for certification audits.
  • Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with direct supervisor, site supervisors, and clinical staff.
  • Reviews and understands service code definitions and has the ability to relate the service code definition to the chart documentation.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested.
