About The Position

Volt is immediately hiring for a Performance/Calibration Engineer in Columbus, IN. This is a full-time, contract opportunity with a duration of 06 months. The role requires a Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering degree. Experience with MATLAB and/or Simulink is essential, and familiarity with engine diagnostics, calibration, and simulation treatments is preferred. Knowledge of Test Cell and vehicle testing is also preferred.

Requirements

  • Proficiency writing MATLAB scripts and functions (1 year professional experience or 3 academic projects using MATLAB).
  • At least light experience with Simulink (1-year professional experience or 1 academic project using Simulink).
  • Strong technical communication/presentation skills and creativity.
  • Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with engine diagnostics, calibration, and simulation treatments.
  • Test Cell and vehicle testing knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience with vehicle On-board Diagnostics (OBD), software calibration, and Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) testing preferred.
  • Experience with Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) preferred.
  • 2 years minimum relevant working experience preferred.
  • Preferably with experience working with timeseries or recorded data (plotting, working with vectors/arrays/matrices, sorting and filtering data, statistical analysis).
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive systems/powertrains would be nice to have.

  • Engage in engine diagnostics, calibration, and simulation.
  • Conduct Test Cell and vehicle testing.
