About The Position
The Precertification Specialist / Surgery Scheduler coordinates the activities related to patient surgery scheduling within the peri-operative environment, interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcome. Performs pre-certification functions to ensure that all services requiring carrier authorizations are approved.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two years’ work experience in hospital registration, insurance, or financial counseling required.
- A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
- Considerable knowledge and skill in the application of the techniques and practices of OR Scheduling.
- Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes preferred.
- Previous work experience in pre-certification and knowledge of medical terminology highly preferred.
