About The Position

High Point & Affiliated Organizations (HPAO) is a health and human service agency dedicated to treating and preventing substance use disorders and mental illness. With programs across Southeastern Massachusetts, HPAO offers a comprehensive continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Requirements

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in a logical and clear fashion.
Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs, including the ability to learn, use, and train HPAO Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative manner.
An understanding of the relationship between substance uses and mental health issues and/or self-help programs.
Understand and maintain therapeutic boundaries.
Reinforce rules in a respectful manner.
Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations.
TB/Flu and Covid19 Assessment.
Annual Completion of the HPAO crisis de-escalation programs.
CPR Certification.
Successful completion of all trainings upon hire and annually as required.
A bachelor's degree in psychology or related field approved by licensing/contracting.
Experience in the human service field.
Either a minimum of 3 years supervised substance use counseling experience or has a recognized certification or licensure including 4,000 hours of clinically supervised counseling of individuals with substance use disorders, including at least 220 documented hours of supervision.

Nice To Haves

A master's degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field: clinical psychology, education counseling, medicine, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, or social work.
Minimum of one-year supervised substance uses and/or mental health disorder counseling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain assigned caseload.
Provide direct care to patients, including assessments, individual counseling, discharge and aftercare planning, treatment plans and updates, weekly progress notes, daily group facilitations, group note completion, and completion of bio-psychosocial assessments.
Make referrals when appropriate.
Be responsible for each assigned patient's medical records, ensuring they are professional, complete, and thorough with timely entries.
Connect patients with aftercare services prior to discharge and assist patients and their families in accessing services when appropriate.
Communicate and involve family in treatment at patients' request.
Attend and participate in all unit and facility meetings, case conferences, Treatment Team meetings, and mandatory trainings, as directed by the Clinical Director/Program Director.
Be responsible for continued education in the field of substance use and related courses.
Utilize standard precautions at all times.
Demonstrate behaviors that recognize the rights of patients as defined by the patients' rights.
Be responsible for contacting the insurance company for authorization, as needed.
Utilize walkie-talkie as campus responders.
Respond to Codes as necessary.
Complete required documentation, including consents/releases, Group Notes, Progress Notes, Contacts Logs, Transition/Discharge Summaries.
Participate in MDT/Rounds Meetings.
Perform crisis intervention and screening for patients at risk, including the ability to complete suicide and homicide risk assessments.
Engage in verbal de-escalation and safe management of patient behaviors in a therapeutic manner that respects the patient.
Assist with completion of patient observation checks, 1:1 monitoring and milieu management as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director, Program Director, or Site Director.
