About The Position

High Point & Affiliated Organizations (HPAO) is a health and human service agency dedicated to treating and preventing substance use disorders and mental illness. With programs across Southeastern Massachusetts, High Point offers a comprehensive continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. Requirements

Must always present as courteous and professional.
Maintain and submit any current Licensure or Certifications necessary for the performance of the position.
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in a logical and clear fashion.
Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs, including the ability to learn, use, and train HPAO Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative manner.
Understanding of the relationship between substance uses and mental health issues and/or self-help programs.
Understand and maintain therapeutic boundaries.
Reinforce rules in a respectful manner.
Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations.
TB/Flu and Covid19 Assessment.
Annual completion of HPAO crisis de-escalation programs.
CPR Certification.
Successful completion of all trainings upon hire and annually as required.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one-year supervised substance uses and/or mental health disorder counseling experience preferred (for Master's Level Clinician).

Responsibilities

Maintain assigned caseload.
Provide direct patient care, including assessments, individual counseling, discharge and aftercare planning, treatment plans and updates, weekly progress notes, daily group facilitation, group note completion, and bio-psychosocial assessments.
Make referrals when appropriate.
Manage assigned patients' medical records, ensuring they are professional, complete, thorough, and updated in a timely manner.
Connect patients with aftercare services prior to discharge and assist patients and their families in accessing services.
Involve family in treatment at patients' request.
Attend and participate in all unit and facility meetings, case conferences, Treatment Team meetings, and mandatory trainings as directed by the Clinical Director/Program Director.
Engage in continued education in the field of substance use and related courses.
Utilize standard precautions at all times.
Demonstrate behaviors that recognize patients' rights.
Contact insurance companies for authorization as needed.
Utilize walkie-talkie as campus responders.
Respond to Codes as necessary.
Complete required documentation, including consents/releases, Group Notes, Progress Notes, Contacts Logs, and Transition/Discharge Summaries.
Participate in MDT/Rounds Meetings.
Perform crisis intervention and screening for at-risk patients, including suicide and homicide risk assessments.
Engage in verbal de-escalation and safe management of patient behaviors in a therapeutic and respectful manner.
Assist with patient observation checks, 1:1 monitoring, and milieu management as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director, Program Director, or Site Director.
