Per Diem School Nurse (Immediate Start)
About The Position
Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school with a mission to prepare scholars for college and to foster service-minded leadership through a demanding yet supportive, content-rich educational environment. The Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of the medical office staff, supporting the school's medical offices and ensuring scholars' health needs are met. This part-time role involves independent management of the school medical office, monitoring students and staff, administering medications and treatments, attending field trips for students with high medical needs, providing first aid, participating in emergency services, and managing the medical care of students with acute or chronic conditions. The RN will also prepare health reports for various stakeholders.
Requirements
- Must hold a current, valid Registered Nurse License in Massachusetts
- CPR Certified
- Strong team orientation
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children and families in a school or community setting preferred
- Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
Responsibilities
- Monitor students or staff who are ill
- Supervise prescribed medical treatments and medication administration in accordance with all regulations
- Run a school medical office independently
- Attend field trips with students with high medical needs
- Administer first aid as needed
- Participate in emergency services for students and staff in the event of sudden illness or injury
- Provide assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral for appropriate medical care of students with acute or chronic health conditions
- Prepare health reports for Nurse Leader, Department of Education and Department of Public Health
