Per Diem School Nurse (Immediate Start)
About The Position
Alma del Mar is a K-8 charter school with a mission to prepare scholars for college and to foster service-minded leadership. Located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the school has a strong track record of academic achievement, particularly for English Language Learners. The Registered Nurse (RN) role is a vital part of the medical office staff, supporting the health needs of scholars and staff. This part-time position involves independent management of the school medical office, monitoring students and staff, administering medications, providing first aid, attending field trips for students with medical needs, and participating in emergency services. The RN will also be responsible for assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral for student medical care, as well as preparing health reports for various stakeholders.
Requirements
- Must hold a current, valid Registered Nurse License in Massachusetts
- CPR Certified
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children and families in a school or community setting preferred
- Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
Responsibilities
- Monitor students or staff who are ill
- Supervise prescribed medical treatments and medication administration in accordance with all regulations
- Run a school medical office independently
- Attend field trips with students with high medical needs
- Administer first aid as needed
- Participate in emergency services for students and staff in the event of sudden illness or injury
- Provide assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral for appropriate medical care of students with acute or chronic health conditions
- Prepare health reports for Nurse Leader, Department of Education and Department of Public Health

- School hours are 8:25-4:00 for staff.
- This position will be scheduled for a consistent 2 days a week.
- Compensation: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
- Starting hourly rate for an RN is $35.
