This position is for the Merced Crisis Residential Unit (Adult Inpatient Program), a 24/7 inpatient voluntary program with a 16-bed facility for adults (ages 18-59) providing rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services, pre-vocational or vocational counseling, and medication evaluation and support services.

Requirements

  • A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.
  • At least one (1) year of nursing experience is required.
  • One (1) year of experience with medication administration is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • an associate degree in nursing or a social science field is preferred
  • preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting. (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for a portion of this experience.)

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct nursing care and supervises same provided by all nursing staff on the shift worked.
  • Visually and audibly observes, documents in writing, and reports orally or in writing the physical or mental condition to the Program Manager and the attending physician or nurse practitioner.
  • Orders, prepares, administers, and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physicians’ or nurse practitioners’ orders. Confirms delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.
  • Responsible for writing a weekly summary on clients as assigned.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate nursing documentation in the medical record for shift worked.
  • Prepares, presents, and coordinates or supervises a verbal or written change of shift report.
